1930 NW Persian Kurd Medallion with Bakshaish border, D0371; dim. 56"x72"
This is an elegant rug in excellent condition with thick pile displaying brilliant natural dyes of persimmon and robbin's egg blue. The rug features a large medallion with an open field of abrashed persimmon red, balanced with quarter-size medallions in each corner spandrel. Symbolic dragons appear from each spandrel reaching toward the center medallion.

Remarks: This is a village rug from Northwest Persia woven in a Kurdish village probably by an older village woman with the great skill and experience to produce such a design with shimmering blues abrash..The Botef is generally considered a sign of well being and health. The field is encircled by a border of chickens or Stylized dragons to protect the heart of the rug.
