Materials: hand-spun wool on natural wool. Age. ca. 1910-1920
Condition: Very good with overall muted colors from naturally derived dyes. Almost entirely intact with original 2 cord selvage /sides, and the kilim on both ends in good condition.
Remarks: This is tribal prayer rug with a prayer arch at the top. The Baluch are a nomadic and semi-nomadic tribe whose flatweave and pile and soumak items were woven primarily as utilitarian tribal pieces. The colors of aubergine, grass green, goldenrod yellow, blue, different shades of brown are all the Native natural colors from their habitat and region.
