Description:
This 1940’s Persian Mahal rug was woven before the second World War, in West Central Persia, adjacent to the rug making areas of the Sarouk/ Sarough carpets). Mahals are reminiscent of the Ziegler carpets and were made at the beginning of the 19th century and are still being made today. This special piece reflects the imaginative skill of an expert weaver who incorporated colors and a whimsical design to paint this woven piece of art. The colors are vibrantly set off on an indigo field with blue, ochre, greens, peach, yellows, ivory, and 8 other colors at least. The design is a rare, one of a kind, original woven piece that reflects the creativity of the weaver. This is an opportunity to add this rug art to your home and wait for the comments from your guests.
