D0262. This is a pair of silk rugs made in China of mulberry silk in the style of an Isfahan silk Omar Khayyan pictorial rugs. The weave is very fine with a knot count of 324 kpsi. The foundation is silk as well as the pile.
Many birds and deer adorn the borders as well as cranes in the upper corners. The pair are identical with a mirror image of the other rug.
The picture includes a couple in an embrace coming out of a vase as though it is a dream and 2 other figures below who are also included in this fantasy.
The condition is excellent in the rugs’ bodies and borders. The long silk fringes have scattered missing areas which can be repaired for a fee.
